I knew I wanted to work in the digital area of business, but also knew I wouldn’t consider myself as a marketer. That’s why the MSc in E-commerce was the perfect choice for me.
I have gotten the chance to also learn about the science of climate change and policy and governance too; things which I would have been apprehensive to study before.
Of course, the Covid-19 pandemic does not make it any easier to necessarily get where you might want to be right now. But my best advice for you if you’re looking to get into radio now or in the future is to keep working.
I have been able to hold onto my journalistic side despite moving towards a career in social media by joining some clubs and societies and writing pieces for DCU’s college newspaper, The College View and Her Campus, DCU.
I was nervous at the beginning as I wasn’t sure whether the content and the course structure would work with remote learning. Thankfully everything was adapted to ensure it was possible to complete the Masters from home without too much struggle.
I filled out my CAO and ended up getting offered my third choice. Initially I was upset after all my hard work however my university has been a great support to me in every aspect of college life.
As a graduate and being in my early twenties, I have felt like I was in some sort of race to get my life on track and work a big corporate job in order to be successful. Since doing the graduate program in LA, I realise we are all on different paths and your twenties are a time to try and to not be scared of failing.
And now here I am, four years later with my First Class Honours BCL degree in the bag wondering how my 18 year old self could have ever thought that. Life has a funny way of working itself out and now I can’t imagine having completed my degree anywhere else...
The beauty of studying Business Studies in DCU is that you have the opportunity to try a range of modules from several business areas. Students then have the opportunity to choose a specialism of their choice from either finance, marketing, HR, economics, or management.
