There is no denying that my college experience was a bit of a rollercoaster with quite a few twists and turns along the way. This rollercoaster, began in 6th year when I was faced with the prospect of filling out the dreaded CAO.
Long story short, I accepted a place in IT Carlow to study Business Management. As early as October I knew that this was not the course for me, so I began investigating my options either to drop out and reapply to the CAO or obtain a transfer to another college. I began researching the possibility of transferring to different colleges in Dublin instead. And alone behold I was fortunate enough to have received a transfer straight into second year of the Bachelor of Business Studies in DCU.
In September 2017 I was officially a DCU student which would see me commute 5 hours each day to get to and from college. In third year, I completed my INTRA work placement within Irish Rail’s Commercial Department. And now one year later I have completed my undergraduate degree, with an extensive knowledge of the Irish public transport network to go with it, to say the least.
I have always been quite honest about my less than glamorous college experience, which I have found from going to open days and just from being a part of the college system for the past 4 years is not often spoken about. I look forward to sharing a snapshot of my journey, which will hopefully help those setting out on their own college journey.
But until then, relax and enjoy your summer the best you can!
