Sustainable Green Organisations (Online CPD)

Designed for professionals from all backgrounds, this practical, systems-focused programme equips you with the tools to lead meaningful sustainability change, wherever you work.

Fully online delivery:

Across seven weeks of flexible online learning, you’ll explore how organisations can embed sustainability, manage ESG challenges, and drive long-term value, with live interactive webinars every Monday evening (5.30–6.30pm, Irish time) from 2 March to 13 April 2026, ideal for balancing learning with a busy schedule.

Funding:

Typical cost of €1500, however, we’re also delighted to offer a discounted route through our partnership with GreenTech Skillnet, with eligible participants receiving up to 40% off the course fee. On completion, you’ll receive a Certificate of Completion from Trinity College Dublin and gain practical insights you can apply immediately in your role, whether you work in business, healthcare, education, the public sector, or beyond. Green Week Grow College Green - DCC Consultation Event

Monday, 9 March 2026, 11am – 2pm

Dublin City Council has published the latest design for Grow College Green. This flagship project reimagines the historic centre of Dublin city, right on the doorstep of Trinity College, creating a new space that is a destination for everyone.

The plans provide a high-quality public realm that can accommodate everyday activity, cultural events and social interaction while also providing moments of calm within the pace of daily city life. The vision is that it will not only be a place to shop, work, gather and celebrate, but also a space to pause, breathe and connect.

As a key city centre stakeholder, Dublin City Council is keen to hear the views of the Trinity College Community before it applies for planning this summer.

Dublin City Council will be joining us on campus during Green Week, so drop into The Atrium on Monday 9th March between 11am and 2pm for a chat about the plans over a cup of tea and a doughnut.

Green Week Found Poetry Workshop

Using newspapers, and research posters, you’ll create your own found poems or collages from reclaimed words and images. We’ll have nature-inspired prompts and examples on hand to spark your creativity — no writing experience needed!

Green Week - Official Opening of the New Secure Bike Parking Unit at Trinity Centre for Health Sciences at St James Hospital

Come along for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony at Trinity’s great new secure bike parking facility on our St James Campus. Built with funding from the National Transport Authority, this new unit is fully secure with a capacity for 32 bikes, swipe access, sensor lighting, and CCTV and should encourage staff and students to get active, take the bike and leave carbon behind!

Green Week - Building a Climate and Nature Citizen Science Network

Tuesday, 10 March 2026, 12 – 1pm

Researchers need people and resources for climate and nature projects. Citizens are looking for ways to meaningfully contribute to climate and nature issues.

How can we bring these two groups together with reduced friction and maximum impact?

In this session, we will explore ideas for proactive climate and nature engagement. What infrastructure can be put in place to streamline interactions between climate and nature scientists and the public?

This might include:

Citizen Science Mailing List – Individuals signed up to receive information about how they can offer their time to climate and nature projects.
Resource Hub – An inventory of resources that private citizens have offered up to be used by researchers (i.e. land, large-scale infrastructure)
Partner Hub – Organisations who have confirmed willingness to partner on climate and nature projects, listing their interests and the appropriate contact.

You may also have ideas you wish to share!

The event will run in-person and online, with lunch provided for in-person attendees. In-person places are limited due to our meeting room size.

Green Week - Land, Food, Health Research Opportunity

Dr. Rupa Marya’s survey on the School of Medicine Centre for Land, Food, Health had 90 responses from researchers across Trinity’s three faculties as well as from practitioners and students. The aim of this event is to engage further in-person and celebrate Green Week.

The main questions we’ll discuss are:

What is your research question?
How would you anchor enquiry on a farm?
What funding opportunities would be available to support your inquiry?

The creative edge we should explore and push together could be the following:

What questions can we ask together that we cannot investigate alone that would further elucidate the web of relationships embedded in land, food and health?
What can we learn from working together that would overcome the current limitations of our respective disciplines/practice?
What novel frameworks of understanding can we articulate by working between our disciplines/practice?

We’d love colleagues from across College to attend. Please feel free to share this invitation with anyone you think might be interested. Some of us are meeting for lunch in the Dining Hall beforehand from about 1pm. We’d love you to join us for that too.

Embodied Practice Workshop: Ecology, Embodiment and Entanglements

Saturday, 21 March 2026, 10am – 1pm

The Department of Drama is inviting you to explore ecology through the lens of embodiment and the collective in a 3-hour workshop with Martha Cosgrove and David Alves. How do our senses attune us to our everyday environments? How do our bodies connect us to histories and narratives that matter to how we live now? How do we tell a story about ecology where our individual stories entangle with our local surroundings and beyond?

Drawing on eco-performance practices, this workshop invites participants to embrace their identities and ground in their space to weave connections through the senses. It will engage with memory, lineage and communication to reimagine how we live within fragile ecosystems. Our endeavour is to activate conversations, feelings and sensations to investigate how a diverse community of learning and research can develop a shared language towards sustainable living.

This workshop does not require any prior experience in performance; rather, we seek to share our methodologies and experience and learn from yours. This is a free event, but booking is required, and the number of participants is limited.

The workshop is organised as a satellite event of Green Week and the module “Staying with the Trouble: Ecology and Performance” (designed and taught by Céline Thobois-Gupta) to celebrate the launch of the Department of Drama’s first module on ecology and the spring equinox.

Martha Cosgrove is a theatre facilitator, maker and manager. She has a passion for ecological art and for engaging communities in environmental themes through sensory, embodied and participatory work. She is a core artist on the environmental arts programme We Are Nature Protecting Itself delivered by Tallaght Community Arts. She is a frequent facilitator with SoloSIRENs theatre company, co-facilitating the company’s primary school workshop series on anti-racism and interculturalism, and also regularly facilitates with Freshly Ground Theatre. Martha graduated with First Class Honours Degree from Drama and Theatre Studies in Trinity College Dublin in 2025.

David Alves is a theatre artist working through devised performance, movement, and embodied research. Their practice is rooted in the rehearsal room and in live encounter, and they create work that emerges from the body’s relationship to space, material, and environment. They are particularly committed to developing physical and site-responsive theatrical languages that explore Afro-Indigenous and queer identities, and belonging beyond text-led forms. David is currently a recipient of ITI’s Six in the Attic residency, after being a member of Weft Studio with Dublin Fringe, and they have also undertaken a Coiscéim residency.

While smart city technology promises greater efficiency and sustainability, its implementation often risks deepening existing social and economic inequalities.

Dr. Philip Lawton, a leading expert in urban development, will address this critical issue in his presentation. He will challenge the common "technology-first" approach and instead advocate for a model where governance and policy are the primary drivers of urban progress.
